MEMBERSHIP
The society is growing in membership every year with the ever increasing awareness that it is building in the Indian Community. Today, there are 629 Members. All major Publishers are members of IPRS. On their Membership of the Society, they Assign all their Past, Present & Future Rights in respect of their Musical Works, which include even musical works incorporated in cinematographic films to IPRS. Nearly all Composers , Songwriters & Publishers of Musical Works are Members of IPRS. These members amongst them control nearly 97% of the total Indian Music. Thus, IPRS controls a wide repertoire of Indian Musical Works and Foreign Musical Works belonging to other Societies.
How Can I Become A Member?
All you have to do is to write to any IPRS office for an application form, and return the same with 3 identity card size photo along with the prevailing Assignment Deed Fees. No entrance or Subscription Fee is to be paid.

EDUCATION
The Society has in the past organised various Seminars in the Country for Copyright Awareness, and is continuing to do so. It is ever so ready to advise people on any issue concerning Copyright in India.
FUTURE PROSPECTS
The Society administers and controls the PERFORMING RIGHTS IN MUSICAL WORKS, THE MECHANICAL RIGHTS IN MUSICAL WORKS AND THE SYNCHRONIZATION RIGHTS IN MUSICAL WORKS on behalf of its members and those of its Sister Societies with which it has Reciprocal Agreements.
IPRS roughly estimates that its present collections are just about 5% of the total possible collections in India . The Society now with its re-registration as a Copyright Society under the Copyright Act , 1957 is poised for a good leap forward and it is fully confident that it will become a major force in a few years to come .
The IPRS today has Direct Reciprocal Agreements with APRA, MACP , KCI, CASH, COMPASS, SAMRO and PRS. The other Societies are related to IPRS through PRS. However, it is the immediate plan of the Society to have as many Direct Agreements with Country Societies within CISAC as possible to enable it to work still more efficiently and effectively.
The Council is equally represented by Publishers and Writers . Further , even among Writers there is equal representation between Composers and Songwriters as also Regionwise between North India and South India.
The Council is headed by a chairman who at present is a veteran and legendary Compose Mr. Naushad Ali . The Management , appointed by the Governing Council , is headed by the General Manager who at present is Mr. Sanjay Tandon. The Society has its Registered Office at Mumbai with Branch Offices in Delhi, Madras, and Calcutta. Through these Branch Offices the Society carries on its licencing ctivities.
